If one land mass submerges, another will raise elsewhere. Multi discipline scientific researches, however, indicate that such a large landscape could not have got submerged. But seeing that old Tamil literature indicated the submerged lands of Kumari and Kollam of Thennan‘s (ancient Pandyan) country, the Tamilians started clinging to the Lemuria theory and are still holding on to it. Such a separation affecting India could not have taken place in the recent thousands of years, but should have occurred Millions of years back, according to science. His theory was that the animals which lived in the same landscape got separated, during the Continental drift. On that basis he proposed the continent of Lemuria. Therefore he concluded that including Madagascar, there should have been one large landscape of the Indian peninsula. He found them not to have any relationship with those in nearby Africa but related to those found in distant India. His research was in fossils of animals in Madagascar. While doing so, he discovered the similarities of the living beings there with those in India. Greatly influenced by Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, he was engaged in research in Madagascar Islands in the African shores of the Indian Ocean. Philip Sclator, who discovered Lemuria, was doing research on animals and their habitat. “The idea of Lemuria was invented due to the influence of the then prevailing mood in the scientific community. I then later came to this blog which mentioned one of the theories which i agree to some extend scientifically. I am quite suprised that most of google searches that came out were from blogs rather where the authors were Tamilians.I must admit, I did not agree with some of the arguments they presented, but they were very compelling. Here is a snap shot of the view shown in History Channel It used to be one huge land mass to the south of today’s Indian peninsula extending from Kanyakumari in the north, and its sides touching as far to the west as Madagascar and as far to the east as Australia. This huge continent of the Tamil people was called Kumari Kandam or the Lemuria continent that was swallowed by the seas, and eventually lost forever So let me put here below what the fuss is about I then decided to do a search on this article and all i could find. Last night my hubby showed me a post on kumari kandam which was on his facebook time line( we have a combined facebook profile).
